In the field of paranormal research, fighting the natural tendency to become disheartened in the face of most people questioning the legitimacy of what we do is a constant battle. This type of research definitely differs from natural sciences such as chemistry and physics. From the very beginning of my investigative career, I had thought about the importance of incorporating truly scientific methods of research and including science-minded people into the investigations. I was fortunate enough to come across a brilliant and thankfully open-minded individual through a job I had. He had an overwhelming number of qualifications that nobody could deny when it came to his view on any type of unexplained activity. I knew I had asked him about joining us at Shane’s home. I wanted to get his unbiased take on all the activity. So Jason and I sat down with Dr. Richard Joseph and discussed the idea of him joining us that upcoming weekend on an investigation (our first in two weeks) and he was surprisingly very excited about it. Dr. Joseph had earned his PhD in particle physics from a very well-known and prestigious university.

I explained to Dr. Joseph that he was there to observe and I would simply like his feedback as everything is going on from his scientific perspective. I also explained that I wanted to conduct a widely known, but very controversial experiment. I had never conducted this experiment before, but having Dr. Joseph present was an opportunity to have a fresh, scientific persective on the situation, which would allow us to properly evaluate the outcome. I knew this experiment had many risks, but at this point, Shane had been chased from his home and I wanted to step outside the box and try to figure out exactly what was present and if there was any chance of getting rid of it. Although I had already concluded that whatever was there was a very intelligent and powerful force, I still could not specifically identify it.

What is known as the Ganzfeld Experiment is a very controversial experiment that has been conducted by psychologists since Wolfgang Metzger devised it in the 1930s. The theory is when the subject is deprived of certain senses, they may be able to pick up on other energies surrounding them. I will refrain from providing certain details as I do not recommend anyone tries it, especially in a location that may house dark energy because the consequences can be very frightening and dangerous.

The basics of the experiment require the subject to be still in a location where their senses of hearing and sight are taken away—they are only hearing white noise while being still in complete darkness with their eyes covered. This theoretically opens the subject up to experience sounds and feelings that are inwardly generated and can open the person up to whatever unseen energy may be lingering. The results of this experiment over the course of time have varied greatly. One of the experiment’s original main goals was to prove the existing capability of people to develop and use telepathic skills.
